At the last meeting of Public Policy Communicators NYC, we circulated a survey for members to weigh in on which topics they want to explore at upcoming meetings. And while a few others came out on top of the heap, one of the more popular topics was “How to best integrate your online efforts so that the work flow and content for website, e-newsletters and social media are seamless but not repetitive.” Well, it seems that a fellow nonprofit communications professional and blogger has done us a great favor by writing on just that topic.
On Kivi’s Nonprofit Communications Blog, Kivi outlined the content she planned to address in an upcoming webinar on this topic, and I think she is right on the mark with her thinking. These are the main points, and she give a great more detail in her blog post.
You can integrate your online marketing in three steps:
(1) Connecting
Make sure everything links to everything else.
Consider whether auto-updating makes sense.
Ensure basic branding is in place.
(2) Strengthening
Think holistically about your online content creation.
Think about the paths.
Encourage multiple connections.
(3) Reinforcing
Learn from your metrics.
Listen to the conversation, and bring in back into your content.
She has lots more detail in her original post, so definitely check it out. If you want to explore this topic in an upcoming PPCNYC meeting, let me know and maybe we can bump it up on the agenda.
