As we move closer to the January 21, 2010 brown bag lunch, which is to focus discussion on using low-cost multimedia to maximal effect, I will be looking around for and presenting to PPC members examples that may be able stoke our discussion. Alison Fine, on her “A. Fine Blog” has presented her five favorite nonprofit videos of 2009. I love her choices, and every one of them is an example of using low cost methods to great effect. The #3 video titled “The Lost Generation” is especially creative and smartly done. It is EXACTLY the kind of thing I was thinking of when we chose this topic for the next brown bag. Alison has also presented a TED Talks video, which I also love because I always used TED Talks as a great example of how some have been very successful in generating huge audiences for really low-cost videos — I mean they’re just people standing on a stage and talking — but people LOVE them. The one Alison presents is particularly enjoyable and worth the relatively long 19 minute viewing time. If you have time before the brown bag lunch, watch all 5, but if you’re pressed for time, definitely watch these two I’ve highlighted.
