As I was creating this website, my assistant said to me, “Are you really going to put your address on the contact page?!? That really creeps me out.”  It got me thinking about what level of information we feel comfortable sharing online and how readily we make certain pieces of information available that may make connecting easier — for better or worse.

Then I cam across a blog posting on Zen and the Art of Nonprofit Technology that I found somewhat clarifying, but hardly the final word.  The core of the piece revolves around defining the two terms so that readers can be clear about the difference and implications.  I recommend it to all public policy communications professionals.  I personally have a high level of tolerance for information sharing online (privacy) but I think that I need to pay more attention to security issues.

Perhaps this is a topic that PPC-NYC should cover in an upcoming session. privacy1
